Jill Anderson's veterinary class at Fairfield ventured to a local breeding facility to assist with annual exams and vaccinations. The onsite opportunity furthers what the students are already learning within the classroom during the year, and a nice way to punctuate the end of the year.
Special thanks to Anderson for providing the photos!

A couple weeks ago, we posted information on a series of Fairfield summer athletic camps. One more camp has produced its dates/times, and that is volleyball.
The volleyball camp is set for June 19-23 at the Fairfield Jr/Sr High School gym. Grades 6-8 will go from 10 a.m. to noon, and grades 2-5 from 1-3 p.m. Cost for the camp is $35, and there is a $10 late fee for anyone registering after June 2.
For more information, contact Fairfield athletic secretary Sheila Miller at (574) 831-2184.

Kinda hard to be here without them, right?
Here's a salute to all the moms out there, from new ones like Amanda Paschen and soon-to-be's like Faith Mahony, to long-timers like Jill Erb and Tracy Zook. Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there, enjoy your day in the sun wherever and however you choose to celebrate!

The Millersburg third graders were able to meet author Kaiya Martin and her dog, Axel, today! Students listened to Kaiya read her book, Blue Bullet Rides in Mommy's Mustang. A few lucky kiddos were even able to compete against Axel in a whipped cream eating contest. Guess who won?!

Geraldo Rivera wasn't on hand for it, but this time around, there was a surprise in the secret tomb! Millersburg Elementary opened its sarcophagus in the library to see what was inside, and turns out it was a mummy!
Earlier in the year, some third graders made Egyptian "artifacts," and fourth graders made a model of the Seti I temple in Abydos. These were part of the sarcophagus event, a fun discovery for both grades to enjoy!

Students in Millersburg's sixth grade classes are working on building projects to represent their versions of a 'Dream School'. The motivation stems from the book the classes are reading titled, "If I Built A School" by Chris Van Dusen. From there, students are asked to design a physical model, drawing, slideshow or some representative creation outlining their ideal 'Dream School'. The sixth graders are presenting today through Friday.

We talk all the time about the support staff, and how they keep the wheel moving at all of our schools. And they do.
HOWEVER, without the teachers, there is no class. There is no school.
Your jobs seemingly has no job description with the magic you perform on a daily basis. Your innovation, your intuitiveness, your counsel, your care, your unwavering love for the kids and your fellow teachers - you are loved!
Thank you teachers as we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week!

A reminder that Fairfield color guard is holding auditions this Wednesday (5/3) and Thursday (5/4) from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Fairfield Coliseum. The club is accepting all 7-12 graders, and no experience is necessary.

It used to be a saying no one wanted to hear, "Off to the principal's office you go!"
With a crew like this, that phrase doesn't apply. We have some of the best principals in the game, and are proud to celebrate them today!
Happy Principal Appreciation Day to our leaders - Jason Grasty, Nick Jones and Sarah Flagg at Fairfield; Wade Jagger at Millersburg; Carla Hochstetler at Benton; and Meg Gingerich at New Paris!!!
