Madison Jones scored a career-high 24 points and added six rebounds as Fairfield knocked off NECC girls basketball rival Angola, 54-50, in overtime Tuesday night. Eva Herbert hit four three-pointers as part of a 21-point night, adding five rebounds, four assists and three steals to the victory.

The JV game went to Angola, 45-32. Ella Savick and Kendall Holman each scored 14 points for the Hornets, and Gisel Lopez led all scorers with 16 points for the Falcons.

Saturday was a lot smoother for the blue and gold, the varsity smashing Prairie Heights 71-20 and the JV rolling 42-8. Herbert was again involved in the scoring, netting 23 to go with seven steals, six rebounds and four assists. Jones chipped in 17 points and both Paige Park and Lopez finished with seven points. The JV had all eight girls get into the game and all eight scored, led by Treat’s 16 points and nine points from Jenna Fought.

Wrestling took on the Northeast Corner Conference in the two-day NECC Super Duals.

The Falcons went 4-4 over the Duals, getting wins over Prairie Heights, Westview, Churubusco and Fremont. Fairfield found the short end against Lakeland, Eastside, Angola and Garrett.

Individual results were not immediately available from the Super Duals.

Fairfield boys hoops earned an NECC win Friday night, taking down Prairie Heights at home, 67-42.

Brant Garber caught fire in the third quarter, hitting four threes as part of a team-leading 16 points. Matthew Holsopple scored eight of his 13 points in the first half and Drew Beachy added a pair of threes as part of his seven points.

The Fairfield JV’s hot start made the Heights chase in a 40-33 Falcon win. Fairfield scored 18 points in the first quarter, Kolton Frye with six of his 10 points and Talen Carthans had six of his nine points coming in that frame.

Sixth grade boys hoops split its games Monday at Prairie Heights. The ‘A’ Team fell 26-17, Nolan Hall and Grayson Huber each contributing five points; and the ‘B’ Team beating the Heights 25-11, fueled by six points each from Leo Guzman, Jace Vaughn and Lincoln LeCount.

Briggs Garner reached 10 points, but Fairfield couldn’t slow down Wawasee in the ‘A’ game Tuesday, 43-32. Vaughn had six points as Fairfield beat the Wawasee ‘B’ Team, 21-19.

Thursday hosting West Noble, Fairfield played just one game but had 14 kids play and score in a 51-6 win. Huber led the way with nine points, followed by Hall and Garner with seven points.
