Fairfield led the Class 4-A No. 7 Northridge Raiders in the second quarter of Tuesday night’s girls basketball clash. But the hot shooting of Cam Conley gave Ridge enough of a cushion to build a 65-48 win in the Falcon’s Nest.
Conley had 22 points, helped by a pair of consecutive three-pointers in the third quarter that gave the Raiders a double-digit lead. Conley was 6-12 from three for the evening. Lily Scholl added 19 points in the win.
Mykayla Mast scored a career-high 21 points, going 4-6 from deep, and Eva Herbert added nine points, five assists and three steals.
Fairfield kept pace with Northridge for much of the first half in the JV contest, but couldn’t maintain in a 41-26 loss. Maddie Treat led the Lady Falcons with 11 points and Jenna Fought tossed in six points.
Paige Park and Mast each finished with 13 points and combined to pull down nine rebounds as Fairfield earned its first Northeast Corner Conference win, 59-45, at Churubusco Thursday night.
Madison Jones had nine points, five steals and four boards, Herbert added 10 points, four dimes and four boards, and Hayden Minder chipped in four points, three rebounds and two blocks. Brooklyn Sinclair hit six three-pointers to finish with 18 points to lead the Eagles.
Fairfield had nine players score at least a point in the 36-25 JV win at Busco. Aaliyah Davis led the charge with eight points and Fought was right behind with seven points.
A varsity-only tilt on Saturday night had Park and Herbert each drop 13 points and Herbert add eight steals in Fairfield’s 49-23 win at Jimtown. Fairfield had Jones record eight points, 10 rebounds, three assists and five steals.
Wrestling began work on the 2024-25 season with its IntraSquad duals Thursday night, then hit the road Saturday for JV work at the West Noble Invite. The girls had five suited up and the boys had six working in Ligonier, part of a two-gym mega tourney that featured just weight class bracket championship round-robins. The boys were outstanding, claiming four first-place spots in a combined 12-1 effort from Miguel Guitterez, Adrian Trevino, Micah Barton and Alex Hagar. The girls had four of five land in the top three, led by a 3-1, second-place finish from Jacinda Brown and a 3-1 third from Addison Schrock. Kayla Hochstetler and Jayna Copen were also third in their brackets.
Sixth grade hoops split its Monday games with Garrett. A combined 17 points from Briggs Garner and Nolan Hall helped the Falcons ‘A’ squad to a 27-14 win, while Bentlee Metzler, Jace Vaughn and Keagan Beachy all had two points in a 10-6 ‘B’ loss.
Fairfield went a combined 4-0 in the Falcon Shootout this past weekend. The ‘A’ Team beat Eastside, 23-20, and Fremont, 37-27, using 13 combined points from Hall and 11 combined points from Grayson Huber.
The ’B’ Team put away Eastside, 23-15, and Fremont, 47-30 with 25 combined points from Beachy and 22 combined points from Vaughn.
