A putback bucket by Madison Jones put Fairfield over in a 40-39 season-opening win against Elkhart Tuesday night. Fairfield scored just 14 points in the first half, but scored 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Jones had a huge night with 23 points, nine rebounds and a steal to pace the victors. Eva Herbert had a good fantasy stats night with seven points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal, and both Haddee Herbert and Macy Worthman chipped in a huge fourth-quarter three-pointers.

The JV started off the game on a 16-2 run en route to a 46-19 win over the Lions. Maddie Treat led the charge with a double-double of 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Cailley Wogoman scored 10 points and Aliviah Spencer added eight points in their first high school games.

Hot starts by John Glenn to open the game and into the second half helped the hosts to a 51-28 win over Fairfield Saturday afternoon. Glenn outscored Fairfield by 18 points in the first and third quarters, taking 17-point lead into the final quarter. Fairfield was also ice cold from three-point range, going just 1-18 from behind the arc. Eva Herbert had 13 points and three steals to lead the Lady Falcons.

The JV had 15 combined points from Maddie Treat and Paige Park, but couldn’t catch John Glenn in a 30-25 loss.

Fairfield opened its sixth grade campaign Thursday with a pair of games against Angola. The A Team fell short to the Hornets, 28-21, while the B Team smashed the hosts, 32-2. Briggs Garner led the A Team with eight points while Jace Vaughn and Keagan Beachy both had eight points in the B win.

The seventh grade and eighth grade boys also played Angola, the seventh squad with a 38-26 win and the eighth lost 44-30. Stats were not available for either contest.
