There is certainly something to say about being one of the best in your field in the country. And Fairfield is overseeing five of them!
Four students from Fairfield Cosmetology and one from Fairfield Technology are advancing from the state level to the national showcase ahead of the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference this June in Atlanta. Their work this past weekend at the state competition in Indianapolis all garnered gold ratings and a ticket to the summer showcase.
Advancing from Fairfield Cosmetology are Audra Yoder, gold in cosmetology; Elise Schwartz, gold in job demonstration open; Ravyn McGowan, gold in job demonstration A; and Olivia Siri, gold in nail care. Fairfield Technology had one individual move on, that being Caleb Borkholder, gold in information technology services.
Students advancing to nationals had to work up a ladder of SkillsUSA competitions, beginning at the local level in February, needing to score gold in their categories to reach last week's state level showcase.
Fairfield brought a total of 28 students to Indianapolis - 23 from cosmetology and five from technology. Cosmetology also reported silver ratings for Keira Murillo in job demo A and Litzy Lujan-Maldonado in job demo open. Bronze ratings went to Lilyana Treat in barbering, Ari Trammell in job demo open and Megan Rosenbrock in job demo A.
