April 8th is the first Monday after our Spring Break and will be a historic day in Indiana. Hundreds of
thousands of people are planning on visiting Indiana for a total solar eclipse! While this total eclipse is
an educational opportunity, it will unfortunately occur during school dismissal. The peak time of the
eclipse is at 3:10pm with the eclipse concluding at 4:25pm. In order to keep our students and staff
safe, we will be dismissing 2 hours early on Monday, April 8 to eliminate difficulty during dismissal.
Now, families will be free to view the entire event, safely, at home.
For a 2-hour early release, dismissal times are as follows:
Benton Elementary School: 1:00pm
Fairfield Junior Senior High School: 1:10pm
Millersburg Elementary Middle School: 12:50pm
New Paris Elementary School: 1:00pm
Bus routes will run as normal, just two hours earlier. For example, if the bus normally drops off your
student at 3:40pm, expect a 1:40pm drop off on April 8th. Please plan accordingly.
To ensure our students are not traveling during the eclipse, extra curricular activities and practices
will not start until 5:00pm on April 8th.
Keeping our students safe is a top priority for Fairfield Community Schools. We appreciate your
cooperation to plan for a 2-hour early release on April 8th.
