Fairfield junior Haddee Herbert won the Iron Poet competition hosted by english teacher Collin Groves. Herbert, for the second year in a row, got to sign the ceremonial spoon in an ode to the classic food competition, Iron Chef, for her work below:
“Oh how I adore the flowing blonde hair
The bright glowing skin that is so very fair
Her lips stuck in a sickly, sweet smile
Even if she was just forced to run a mile
The formless toes stayed pointed even during sleep
Heels are a girls best friend, so those she must keep
Her limbs all stick straight as a stiff board
Yet she does gymnastics and swims abroad
She was an inspiration to little girls everywhere
Yet she also makes your doubt your own body's wear and tear”
