DayInTheLife - Creating A Masterpiece
It takes more than just a little creativity to build a work of art. It actually takes some construction and thought, as Fairfield's art students are finding out this week ahead of Friday's Fairfield Art Festival. Read about the journey senior Lizabeth Freestone has gone through to get her senior booth ready for the big day.

There's not much else to say: We LOVE our principals!
Happy National Principals Day!!!

Benton fourth grade students got to experience early Indiana history with a field trip to Forks of the Wabash. Students loved visiting the one-room schoolhouse, home of Chief Richardville, and learning about Miami tribe traditions. There's a rich history still alive in the Hoosier state, and Benton's classes were able to see first-hand how those traditions are still all around us!

We noted a couple weeks ago Fairfield engineering teacher Jim Jones was honored as one of the top STEM teachers in the state. Well, his direction this past week helped out not only his students, but others in the school district.
Needing a project for his engineering class, Jones' students took on and executed storage units for New Paris' kindergarten and first grade class word work boards. Each class is now equipped with places to keep their boards in part to the handiwork of the students in Jones' classes.
Storage units look great, well done!

Fairfield senior Nick Graber made a unique bit of history Wednesday in his college commitment to Bethel University, becoming the first student in school history to sign with both esports and men's volleyball. Find out more on Graber's dual pursuits, as well as where his academic road may lead:

These individuals are the true backbones to our buildings and departments! If you see one, wish them a Happy Administrative Assistant's Day. Might make their day!

As we noted a year ago, Fairfield Jr/Sr High School teacher Jim Jones was named one of three educators from Indiana to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).
Jones, Amanda Horan of Bishop Chatard High School and Nora Walsh of Evansville Reitz High School were on hand Thursday in Indianapolis to be honored as Indiana state finalists with an emphasis on STEM teaching.
The three were made known one of them will be selected for the national PAEMST award, which will be announced at a future date.
Congrats again to Mr. Jones for his years of excellent teaching with Fairfield Community Schools and for being named one of the top STEM educators in the state!

The Rounding up has finished and the Class of 2037 have been checked in!
Fairfield Community Schools held its annual Kindergarten Roundup Thursday evening at its three elementary schools - Benton, Millersburg and New Paris - each giving our soon-to-be kindergarteners a chance to see the lay of the land and parents to get their kids registered and onboarded.
We are looking forward to our next class of students join us!

Our state-bound Fairfield Cosmetology Department students are on their way to Indianapolis this morning to compete in the Skills USA State Finals. The nearly two dozen competitors also brought a bus full of donation items with them, collected for the past two weeks for the Indiana Burn Camp.
Good luck to our Cosmo students as they look to earn state glory and potentially a spot in the Skills USA Nationals in Atlanta this summer!

From the darkness to the light! New Paris Elementary held its annual Art Show Tuesday night and the blacklight room was a tremendous hit. Displays with glowing works from the NPE students shined and brought a wide amount of interest from the big crowd that visited the school. Huge congratulations to New Paris art teacher Melissa Carl for putting together the event and creating a fun and vibrant way for the student's art to come alive!

The Indianapolis 500 Festival and Education Program made its pitstop at Millersburg Elementary Middle School on Monday. The free program for fourth grade students in Indiana, MEMS was joined by its friends from Parkside Elementary in Goshen for the Mobile Study Trip curriculum.
Indy 500 representatives offered classroom lessons with interactive and hands-on stations both outside by the actual Indy car, or inside at stations set up in the Millersburg building.
The Indy 500 Education Program has toured the state for two decades, reaching nearly 450,000 students statewide. The 2023 program visited 337 schools including Millersburg, impacting more than 23,000 Indiana fourth graders in nearly every county in the process.

Spring sports opened up this past week, with softball getting in a pair of home games while track competed at the HSR State Finals.
