Boys golf opened the week with two wins in the Northeast Corner Conference ledger, shooting 161 to beat Eastside (197) and Lakeland (200). Brayden Miller again led the field with a one-under 35, and the remainder of the Falcons were within five strokes of each other, Jasper Carl at 40, Jake Elliott at 42, Miles Nine at 44 and Ben Kio at 45. Smith Wogoman had the low score in JV play, leading Fairfield with a 47.

Miller was the event medalist with a round of 69 at Bent Oak on Saturday as part of the Concord Invite. Miller was three-under for his round, helping Fairfield to a third-place finish in the team tournament. St. Joe edged South Bend Trinity by two strokes to win at 307. Scoring marks for the Falcons included Nine at 80, Carl at 83 and Kio at 86.

The JV also had a successful weekend, shooting 365 to place second at the Fremont Invite at Lake James Country Club. Jayce Smith was second with his 88, and Lincoln Wogoman also shot 88 and finished fifth. Gavin McGowen added a top-ten score with a 91.

Keegan Miller homered and drove in three while Michael Slabaugh added a triple and three driven in as Fairfield baseball took care of Eastside, 10-1, Tuesday night at home. The Falcons used a six-run sixth to break open the contest. Landon Miller continued his torrid pitching, allowing just two hits and striking out eight in the complete game win.

Keegan Miller again had a big night, homering again among his three hits to help Fairfield edge Fremont, 6-5, Thursday night. Sawyer Ernsberger had a two-run double in the seventh that proved to be the game winner, Ernsberger knocking in three on the night.

Cohen Yoder got the save in relief of Owen Harrison, who scattered seven hits into the seventh inning before getting the win.

Keegan Miller and Luke Mast combined on a two-hitter Friday as Fairfield crushed LaVille, 15-0. The two struck out eight Lancers, and Eli Miller drove in four to lead the offense. A few hours later, Fairfield held off Jimtown for a 5-3 win Saturday morning. Ernsberger had two hits, two runs scored and a stolen base in the victory.

Drew Beachy had himself a night, going 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs and a stolen base, and on the mound, tossed a complete game five-hitter, allowing just a run and punching out eight in the 15-1 JV win over Eastside. Garrett Stoltzfus, Avery Christner and Logan Miller each scored three runs, and combined for four hits and four RBIs. St. Joe’s freshman squad beat Fairfield, 9-4, Friday evening. Harley Garl had a double and two walks for the Falcons. Saturday, Fairfield bounced back with a 15-5 win against Jimtown. Stoltzfus, Christner and Miller once again were a wrecking crew with a combined nine hits, seven runs scored and five RBIs.

Jayslynn Hall had a game to remember, homering twice and driving in all three of Fairfield’s runs in a 5-3 softball loss to Eastside. Madison Jones added two hits in the loss. Fremont must have still been salty about Fairfield knocking them from the NECC tournament, as the Eagles crushed Fairfield, 13-0, Thursday. Khloe Glendening tossed a three-hitter and didn’t walk anyone in the pitching win.

Fairfield went 1-3 at the Mishawaka Cancer Classic, beating Niles, 6-4, for its lone win. Fairfield dropped contests to Fort Wayne Dwenger, 11-3, champion Mishawaka, 8-2, and South Bend Adams, 22-21. In the four game series, Jones had six hits, including a double and homer. Lilly Yoder tripled against Mishawaka and went four-for-four with two RBIs against Niles, Hall had a homer and three RBIs against Adams and walked four times in the Dwenger contest, and Preslee Caouette drove in four against Adams.

Five innings couldn’t solve matters in a 6-6 tie between the Fairfield and Eastside JV squads. Ava Cripe had a double and two RBIs to pace the Lady Falcons.

Fairfield took care of business Tuesday in NECC girls tennis play, beating Prairie Heights 4-1 in LaGrange County. Addison Mast and Allie Stahly gave up just one game between them in straights on the singles circuit while both doubles crews won in straights.

The Fairfield JV swept all five of its matches against the Panthers.

Fairfield picked up its second 4-1 win of the week, Thursday’s coming at Central Noble. Mast highlighted the win with a shutout at one singles and one dubs of Amanda McGuire and Elise Schwartz gave up just two points in its win.

JV courts went 3-1 to Fairfield.

The Lady Falcons used a pair of doubles wins and another from Mast to edge Goshen, 3-2, in an intersectional preview Friday at home. Doubles gave up just six points while Mast held off Landry Schrock 6-1, 7-6.

JV matches went 6-3 in favor of the Falcons.

Fairfield would place second at Saturday’s Angola Invite, but fielded two court champions. Mast was 3-0 to win the one singles bracket, and the duo of Lacy Stoltzfus and Greta Hochstetler teamed up for the first time and won the two doubles title, also 3-0 for the day. Both Taylor Schreck and one dubs were 2-1 and third place, and Stahly was 2-1 and fifth place.

Hosting rival Westview Tuesday, Fairfield doubled up in boys and girls track wins, the girls with a 94.5-37.5 win and the boys on top 72.5-59.5, the boys claiming the NECC West Division title.

The girls won 14 of 16 events, with plenty of notables. Emma Walter doubled the speed events, breaking the Fairfield school record in the 100 at 12.55 and then adding a 27.11 in the 200. Walter needed every bit of that speed to rally the 4x100 relay to a 55.36 win, just .03 ahead of Westview speedster Leigha Schrock. Madelyn Culp won both hurdles (16.41 and 51.61) along with long jump (15-1), Natalee Lambright took both the mile (5:46.95) and two-mile (12:33.10), Ireland Baker grabbed both throws, 29-3 in shot and 81-11 in disc, and Shelby Miller set a personal record with a pole vault of 9-9.

Fairfield stacked a lot of points down the line, winning just seven of 16 events, but sweeping categories like shot put and discus to wedge Westview. Ethan Hochstetler led the shot putters with a toss over the sand into the grass at 51-3 while Brock Dunlap got his first varsity win in disc at 130-4. Waylon Herschberger added the speed double, taking the 100 (11.30) and 200 (22.70).

Friday’s NECC Track Championships were held at Churubusco, and Angola reigned supreme on both sides of the ledger, winning both team titles. Fairfield was third on the girls side and fourth on the boys side, both teams scoring 78 points.

The Lady Falcons had three event champions, two coming from Walter, who swept the 100 (12.83) and 200 (26.90) championships. Claira Foust added a third in the high jump, clearing 5-2 to get the blue ribbon. Jalyn Stofleth and Shelby Miller went two-three in pole vault at 9-3 apiece, and Lambright added a third in the two-mile at 12:28.64.

Caleb Silliman was runner-up in the 110 hurdles at 16.45, and the 4x1 relay team also were second, going 43.95. Fairfield had third place efforts from Herschberger in the 200 (23.63), Evan Correll in the mile (4:37.65) and two-mile (9:59.74), Marco Garcia in the long jump (19-6.25) and Nick Hofer in shot put (50-9).

Junior high track hosted West Noble and Elkhart Christian on Monday. The boys split its matchups, beating Elkhart, 66-52, and falling to West Noble, 80.5-37.5, while the girls lost to both West Noble, 92-26, and Elkhart, 61.16-56.83.

The boys had most of its point success in the field, where it went one-two in discus with Dylan Titterington (119-8) and Gavin Lash (108-11) topping the list, Casen Custer winning pole vault (9-3) and Brandt Sark taking high jump (5-3). The girls had Emery Holsopple win pole vault (7-0), and runners ups from Nora Thieszen in the 100 and 200 dashes and Linley Bontrager in discus.Boys
