Dr. Cannon is coming to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair! Our Fairfield Community Schools superintendent will be coming to the fair on Wednesday, July 24, to visit with students from Fairfield schools who have projects and animals! She would like to hear how your projects are going, gets photos with you and your work, and bring you a sweet treat for being awesome! Attached is a Google form to fill out so she can make her way around to you on Wednesday. When you sign up, please include your grade you will enter this fall (2024-25 school year). Our sign-up deadline is Sunday, July 20. Please make sure if you sign up that you are at the designated area at the time that you have chosen so Dr. Cannon can find you. Fairfield once again competed at the national level and found success, taking home a trio of awards from the Scholastic Arts & Writing organization in what was a record-breaking year. Keira Johnston picked up a very prestigious scholarship and joined Lily Thieszen and Liz Cunningham as national medalists. Fairfield Community Schools recently completed the first RAD women’s self-defense class. This initial class was offered to employees and their children.  What is RAD Self Defense, you may ask? It is a comprehensive self-defense program specifically designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves against various forms of assault. The class consists of lecture, discussion and practicing self defense techniques that are suitable for women of all ages. The instructors, FCS Police Chief Skyler Garner and Jessica Dunlap, look forward to offering courses to the greater Fairfield Community in the near future. If you would like to be added to the list, or if you have any questions regarding RAD, please reach out to Officer Garner at skgarner@fairfield.k12.in.us

The final week of June are in the books for Fairfield summer camps! Baseball weathered a week-long heat wave delay in mid-June to take the field this past week, and despite a rain day inside, had dozens of kids working on their games and having fun. Meanwhile, in the coliseum, the state-level Fairfield Guard program began prep work on its future with its Junior Guard Camp. The week-long camp introduced kids to dance, flag, rifle and choreography with a Friday showcase production for their family and friends. Camps will take a couple weeks off for moratorium and get back to business on July 15 with boys basketball holding its week-long showcase, and band begins its new season on July 15 with the first of a series of summer camps.

ATTENTION BASEBALL CAMPERS! With the threat of rain and potential severe weather, Fairfield baseball camp will be moved inside into the main gym for TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 2024! Starting times for each session will remain the same.

BREAKING NEWS: Due to projected temperatures and heat indexes above 90 degrees this upcoming week, Fairfield baseball is POSTPONING its youth camp one week. The baseball camp will now take place June 24-28 at the same times for each age group: 10-11:30 a.m. for grades 3-5; 12-1:30 p.m. for grades 6-8; and 1:30-3 p.m. for grades K-2 - all at the Fairfield baseball field. In the final installment of the sports wrap for the 2023-24 season, we wrap up five of our six sports with their state tournament results. UPDATE FOR TUESDAY - the girls tennis camp scheduled for this morning (Tuesday, May 28) is cancelled and moved to Saturday, June 1. Camp time will remain the same from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Camp will still take place tomorrow (Wednesday, May 28) on through the remainder of the week from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fairfield tennis courts!

New Paris Elementary celebrated a special group of kids this morning with its Pre-K graduation ceremony! Our preschoolers from both morning and afternoon classes were recognized, which included class awards, a few song performances, and, of course, their graduation certificates! We anticipate how these young ladies and gentlemen impact our community in the years to come!
