After a slow start, Fairfield caught up and passed Wawasee for a 45-40 girls basketball win Tuesday night. Fairfield used a game-high 14 points from Madison Jones and double digits from Makayla Mast (11 points) and Eva Herbert (10 points) to lock up the win. Haddee Herbert had three points, but clamped down on Wawasee’s leading scorer, McKenzie Hackleman, and held her to 10 points on 3-13 shooting.

The JV shut Wawasee out in the third quarter to rally for a 37-26 win. Trailing by four at the half, Fairfield outscored Wawasee 20-5 in the second half and were 8-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Maddie Treat continued to impress with another 14 points, and Paige Park reached double figures with 11 points.

Fairfield clobbered backyard rival Goshen Saturday night, holding the RedHawks to just three second-half points in a 54-9 result. Fairfield held Goshen to just 4-27 shooting on the night (15 percent) and created 24 turnovers. Eva Herbert had a big night with 14 points, eight assists and five steals, Jones dropped in 17 points and five steals, and Park finished with 10 points and seven boards.

The night started with a 43-5 Fairfield JV win. Treat again led the team with 15 points and Park chimed in with 10 points.

Fairfield sixth grade pulled a pair of wins in boys buckets Monday night hosting Churubusco. The 30-18 ‘A’ win saw Briggs Garner net 13 points and Brayden Beachy added five points. Keagan Beachy finished with six points as the ‘B’ team beat the Eagles, 11-7.

More sixth grade buckets on Thursday as both Fairfield sides knocked off Lakeland. In the 49-11 ‘A’ win, Garner led the way with 12 points, but saw Brayden Beachy, Nolan Hall and Hudson Cripe all finish with eight points. The ‘B’ team won 22-9, paced by Leo Guzman with six points, with Keagan Beachy, Jace Vaughn and Lincoln LeCount all scoring four points each.

Girls wrestling opened its historic first season of IHSAA sanctioned action with a dual match at Lakeland Thursday evening. Fairfield brought five athletes to Lakeland as part of a 42-12 loss.

Fairfield had one mat duel win, coming at 170 from Jacinda Brown, who scored a third-period pin of Madi Oakley. Taylor Scarbro had the other six for the Lady Falcons in a forfeit at 235. Melodee Lantz, Kayla Hochstetler and Addison Schrock were also active for Fairfield in its maiden voyage.
