Girls Golf All-NECC

Golf wrapped up its Northeast Corner Conference regular season 9-1 overall after posting a 201 to knock off both Garrett (233) and West Noble (239) Monday evening at Meadow Valley. Addie Mast continued her siege through the season with a medalist 40. Bella Blosser had a 49, Mallory McGowen added a 53 and Paige Lantz shot 59.
Saturday’s conference tournament had the Lady Falcons finish second at 398, chasing Fremont’s championship 347. Mast finished third overall with her 86, joined on the All-NECC team by McGowen (96) and Blosser (99), who were eighth and ninth, respectively.

Cross country took on all comers at the Northeast Corner Conference Super Duals Wednesday evening at West Noble. Top performer for the Lady Falcons was Kaitlyn Kuhn, who was 10th overall with a time of 22:01. Two back of Kuhn was Natalee Lambright (22:18) and Lyla Dennis (22:27) gave Fairfield three in the top 20. The girls would go 5-1 in the aggregate, losing to just West Noble (6-0) in the ladder standings.
The Fairfield boys had Evan Correll lead the way with a 16th-place time of 18:44 and brother Carson Correll was 20th at 19:05. The boys would finish 6-4 in the aggregate, Angola the top team at 10-0 for the meet.
Fairfield’s varsity boys finished ninth among a primarily sectional-laden lineup at Saturday’s Concord Invite. Evan Correll and Ethan Garcia both broke 18 minutes in the race through the sectional track at Ox Bow, Correll at 17:32 and Garcia at 17:43. In the undercard, the Falcons were eighth as a program but had Wyatt Mast finish 12th overall with a time of 19:37.

Fairfield couldn’t quite catch Garrett Monday evening, losing the NECC volleyball match, 3-0. Eva Herbert had seven kills and three blocks, Amanda McGuire dug nine attempts and added five aces, and Maddy Miller assisted on 19 points. The JV knocked off Garrett in two, Lacy Stoltzfus leading the offense with five kills and both Abby Graber and Neil Rumfelt had six assists and two aces.
Fairfield righted the ship Thursday, beating Prairie Heights 3-0. Miller sent up 31 assists while Alice Morrison hammered down 10 winners, both leading the victors. Madison Jones added eight kills and a block while McGuire had 11 digs. JV had Shelby Cripe post three aces, three digs and two assists in a 2-0 win over the Heights. Olivia Cripe added three kills in the win.

Boys tennis kept humming along with a 5-0 win Monday at Central Noble, all five courts in straights. The Falcons moved to 5-0 in the NECC with a blanking of Lakeland Thursday, four of the five courts pitching shutouts. The JV also won all four of its courts against the Lakers. Garrett Stoltzfus continued to run undefeated in conference play with his two lopsided wins against the Cougars and Lakers.

Breckan Maran scored three touchdowns, including the tying and go-ahead scores, to push Fairfield past host Culver Academy, 39-31, in overtime Friday night. Maran also powered in a pair of two-pointers to tie the score at 31, then in overtime on Fairfield’s first possession. Ethan Schmucker added an eight-yard rushing score and Brooks Custer found Hunter Kauffman for an 11-yard passing score. Sawyer Ernsberger added a 28-yard field goal in the opening period.
Fairfield rushed for 383 yards in the win, led by Maran’s 135. Marco Garcia helped the defense with an interception.
An 11-yard touchdown pass from Kahler Maust to Cole McCloud started off Fairfield in a 20-0 win over South Bend Riley in Saturday's JV game. Warren Kaufman had a rushing touchdown, converted a two-pointer, and finished with 222 yards on the ground.
Miguel Gutierrez rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns and Warwick Loughrey added a pair of two-point conversions as Fairfield’s freshman football team beat John Glenn, 38-0, Thursday evening. Maust added an interception in the defensive shutout.
