Wrestling began its regular season in earnest last week, heading to Northridge Tuesday night.
The Raiders played poor hosts, using three pins and five forfeits to span out a 54-18 victory over the visiting Falcons.
Fairfield’s 18 points came on three consecutive pins, starting with Dirk Rumfelt at 157, getting the slap with one second left in the first period. That was followed by Aldahir Ortiz working for the six at 5:43 in the 165 match, and at 175, Ryan Noel put another six on the Fairfield side with a pin at 1:44.
Fairfield went 2-3 as a team at the Wawasee November Duals on Saturday, picking up wins over South Bend Washington and Fort Wayne South Side.

Matthew Senn was 4-1 with two pins, a tech fall and a major, and Breckan Maran, David Almiray, Noel and Rumfelt each had a pair of wins in the super. Brockton Miller also collected a pin.
Neither team seemed to be able to throw it in the ocean in the first quarter, but business picked up in the boys basketball opener Tuesday night at the Falcon’s Nest.
Fairfield’s Alex Hofer hit a pair of second-half threes, but Wawasee’s Micah Wilson hit four free throws in the final minute to secure a 47-43 Wawasee win. Hofer finished with eight points while Noah Mast led the Falcons with 13 points, nine coming in the fourth quarter.

Fairfield had just one girls game day last week, and it was at home Saturday against Concord.
A slow second quarter on the offensive end shifted to a fast third, where Fairfield’s four-point halftime lead spread to 11 points at 38-27, and eventually to a 47-34 final score.
Eva Herbert led the hosts with 16 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Macy Worthman had a pair of key buckets in the first half and finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
